So many hats, so few heads to put together
Mehdeeka has always been about being a marketer with limited resources - and sometimes the resource you’re missing the most is just a like-minded peer.
How many times have you asked someone to give feedback on your work and gotten “yep looks good” back? When what you really want is “this is good, but if you tried this, it’d be great.”
Introducing the Mehdeeka Focus Network, one dedicated hour per week where you bring what you’re working on to:
Receive feedback on how take your draft from good to great
Brainstorm, unblock, and soundboard ideas
Industry Q&A
Accountability check ins
There are lots of communities out there like Slack channels and Facebook groups. The Focus Network is not a community.
With a set open and close time, restricted cohorts, and a dedicated moderator, you know that when you show up you can expect to get to work in a safe environment where requests and questions are guaranteed to get meaningful responses.
Cohorts are curated to ensure no competitors can see each others’ work, and it’s one person per company so you can also freely share in the group without worrying about office politics.
Moderators ensure every question or request gets a response.
…Well at least, that’s the plan!
Having a judgement free place to ask “hey can you give me feedback on this?” has been something I’ve always wanted, but I’ve never had access to a mentor-like figure who did what I did. I’ve had mentors and managers, but they were never really people who appreciated the craft, if you know what I mean.
I am looking for some beta testers to be the first cohort to the Mehdeeka Focus Network! Limited to 10 spots, and no one is guaranteed an entry. I’ll be checking to make sure there’s no competitors being mingled, and only one person per company is permitted to ensure a genuine safe space.
The hope for this little idea of mine is it becomes a genuine space for work and professional development. Use it as your accountability check in, to block out your calendar for focus time, or ask for feedback on whatever you’re working on. Limited to B2B marketers (non SaaS welcome!) so you know your cohort will “just get it”.
Pending feedback from the first cohort, this will become a paid quarterly sign up which you’ll be able to justify as L&D (and hopefully get your employer to pay for!)
Registrations close in 2 weeks or earlier if all spots fill up!
FAQ
Is this 1:1 mentoring? No! It’s a group setting, it’ll take place in either Slack or Discord. None of us need another zoom meeting, but this will be in your work calendar so you can block it out and either get focus work done or partake in giving/receiving feedback. Think of it more like a study group or a bookclub but with the moderator overseeing it all.
What if I don’t have anything I’m working on that day? You can bring anything, a current draft, an idea, an older piece of work you want retrospective feedback on, or even bring a competitors piece of work and see how you can one up them. There is an expectation that you’ll give as much as you receive though, so you could also spend a session reviewing other peoples’ work to give back - but remember this will also spark ideas and reflection for yourself anyway!
What’s the commitment? 1 hour per week for 6 weeks (through to EoFY) but it’s not like you have to give 100% attention for 1 hour straight, if you want to state your goal at the start of the session and then commit to focus time, the moderator will check in with you to make sure you’re not getting distracted.
If you have any other questions feel free to just reply to this email and I’ll get back to you.
